5 of the Best Artworks from Photo L.A. 2017

Photographic genres  can be re-arranged in surprising ways , and in its evocation of the natural world, this  effort could be understood as an extension of landscape photography . By cutting and joining her own photograms, Pinto rejects  the dictate that photographs  are inherently rectilinear, like fellow photographer Chloe Sales  and Brea Souder. This  image—from the series entitled "Home and Garden"— becomes  a bonsai-like entity  that suggests  a botanist's  grafting and a modernist version of Karl Blossfeldt.

Sense of Place at Gallery 1/1

Sense of Place
June 20 - September 3, 2016

A place is not a place until we find it, describe it, name it, love it, hate it, exploit it, protect it, etc. But when do we really know a place?  This exhibition features four photographers who are sharing with us their artistic explorations of places and landscapes that are important to them. GALLERY 1/1 is pleased to be the first to exhibit these artists in Seattle.
